I have had a lot of eye surgeries LAZIK is one of them. Mine was very successful. My eyes were 400/20 and 200/20 without glasses. after surgery my eyes were 20/20 both eyes.
I am a nurses aide I worked with patients who had diabetes and some lost their vision. Some people lost their vision because of machine malfunction. Machine malfunction hardly ever happens.
If you have Cataracts then it's best to wait until you have cataract surgery then get LAZIK, because your eyes will change. After Cataract surgery.
As a person gets older the retina will change and the whole in side of the eye.
I took care of an old man 95 years old who had it done, In a few hours his eyes were back before surgery.
LAZIK is very successful it is the most successful eye surgeries you can get.
Talk to a Ophthalmologist who does it or an eye clinic to see if you are a candidate. wierdeyes2000

1. I don't know the percentages, but I do know that I am quite satisfied with my surgery.

2. Don't abuse your eyes and expect them to last. Laser eye surgery corrects your vision, it doesn't make your eyes impervious to damage. As time goes by and your eyes age they will do the same thing all eyes do, weaken. When you go in for your surgery, you will probably be offered an extended warranty sort of deal for a nominal fee. Take it.

3. Anything else that you need to know will be explained at the time of your first consultation. If you have any more questions, write them down and take the list to that consultation. I'm quite pleased with my laser eye surgery, as are most patients (from what I've heard). It was the best money I've invested in my eyesight, ever. Good luck. F

1. differing opinions based on who you read, but probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 94%, where "success" is defined as 20/40 vision

2. nearsighted Rx's are usually permanently not-nearsighted anymore. farsighted Rx's seem to regress. yes, near-point stress can in theory make a person nearsighted again, even if they've had lasik

3. would need some pretty specific testing to see if you are a candidate. everyone thinks they can have it, but a lot of people can't or shouldnt princeidoc
