Here give these folks a call and see if you qualify for their no interest loan for your dogs surgery. They offer these loans to people who’s animals are in need of high cost surgeries and other ailments.

    Check out CareCredit

Or you could try a car wash, bake sale, yard sale or a combination of any of those.

    Sell extra stuff.

If you live in a small town, you may be able to get the local paper to print a story about it and say you are taking donations.

Print up a little story about you and your dog and his condition, include a pic of him and of the two of you, then take it people you know asking if they would help sponsor his surgery.

Ask you vet if there is anyway he could give you a price break. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can’t. I knew someone who got her horses bladder stone surgery done for free because she was willing to take the horse to the vet school and have it done there.

If possible, ask for permission from store owners and put little boxes with a pictures of your dog with the problem he has on counters of stores. People will put whatever money they can into the box if they are touched by this request. You could also do this at hospitals, parks, schools, etc. You can also contact NGOs that help animals and pets. The proceeds may start out as small but remember- little drops of water make a mighty ocean!

wow, thats alot of money. have you talked to your vet about making payments on the surgery? when my dog broke her leg, the surgery and what not were over a thousand dollars and my vet was kind enough to let me make payments. worth a try. good luck.

$5000 is too much to spend on a dog for a surgery that is rarely successful anyway. There are people starving in this world. Let’s feed them first.

Blind animals do well. And if your dog already has DM, the new lenses wouldn’t help for long anyway.

Try a rescue group for the breed.

Contact the paper, tell them how much your dog means to you, how young he is, the importance of good breeding and nutrition (to lessen the risk of diabetes) and how your dog now has complications from diabetes (cataracts, etc.)

A couple here got a lot in donations to save their dog who had been hit by a car…you may have luck with this as well.

Care Credit saved my dogs life!

If you know a lot of dog people, who want to feed better nutrition, you can become an independent distributor for Flint River Ranch and raise money that way…It’s pet food and you do not have to keep an inventory. It’s shipped direct to your customer. Email me if you would like to go this route…
