My wife had it done and her eyes got so dry they ended up having to put little plugs in her tear ducts so her eyes would stay moist. Before she had it done she had her glasses with her all the time so when someone would give her something to read, she would just read it. Now she runs around without glasses all the time and when someone gives her something to read she has to run around looking for her reading glasses. So she can see at a distance, great but she can not see up close, not so great. Now it has been 8 years and she is talking about having it done again because as she aged her vision changed. Lasix is not a permanent fix. Lastly, if you are even thinking about joining the service, don't do it. All I can say is this- IT IS AMAZING! I have better than 20/20 vision, and it is SO AWESOME to not have to wear glasses/contacts anymore! There is always "risk" in ANY surgery, but your chances of problems are quite low! Go for it!
