turtlesarecool asked: When I mean eye correcting surgery, I’m talking about things like laser eye surgery that fix your vision. I mean, I think laser eye surgery works by slicing tiny pieces of the cornea in order to change the shape of the lens into a shape that correctly reflects the light. But how would the surgeon know how much to cut off? Also, if your eyes can degrade to the point at which you become legally blind, then how come legally blind people don’t get vision correcting surgery?

Christina asked: I was told that there is a surgery where they place sapphires on the cornea of the eye and this fixes your eyesight forever. I don’t know what it is called or any other information. Can anyone help?

After cataract surgery, I wanted to see distance betterm so, I had LASIK enhancement done in June, 2006. In December, 2006, the doctor said that I had regression and I can do another LASIK. The thickness of my cornea is 419. I am afraid that I will invade my corena too many times. I cannot wear contact lenses and I do not want to wear glasses. Any suggestions and what I should know?

Killing Time asked:
I really want to wear my contacts up until the surgery or atleast up until a few days before the surgery. My doctor told me not to wear my contacts 2 weeks beofre the surgery because they change the shape of your cornea or generally your eye, not sure. Anyway, did anyone wear their contacts up until the surgery and was it a big deal or do you think I can get away with it?

I hope to join the Army, and I need corrective eye surgery. I have heard horror stories about lasik, and want to know the safest, and most painless way to get your eyes corrected. Remember it is 2008. I really prefer having a healed cornea.

My boyfriend has what you call a Karaconus, where his cornea is getting small. He needs to get a surgery and we’ve tried to get help thru medical but they’ve rejected him because they dont cover that, and the ridiculous thing about it is they consider getting an eye surgery as a privilege, anyways, we tried getting him insurance and they rejected him too. So, is there anyone out there that knows any program that can help….Thank you!

vuezta asked: say ur eye sight is bad. u get Lasik Eye surgery. everything is good. you can see better again.
ur young. now as u grow old. your eyes get worst again.
does the tissue (cornea) they cut off grow back. or does it stay cut forever?
if it doesnt heal as time go by. does that mean you can no longer have another Lasik eye surgery?

Denise asked:
I had a lasik consultation 2 days ago. My eyes were dilated and some other test were done which required the tech to numb my eye and basically poke it to check the thickness of my cornea. The very next day my eyes still appeared dilated, my vision is doubled, and my left eye appears to be turned inward (crosseyed). I’ve called the lasik office and left 2 messages for someone to contact me. So far no one has. Is this normal?!?!
