The risks I know of are blurring, double vision, star bursts, and halos especially at night. Many people who had this done also also suffer from dry eyes. I used to know someone who had to carry around a bottle of eye drops and use it every few minutes or so to relieve this problem.

Personally, I'm not considering it. I'm 50 years old and would need reading glasses if I got it done. I would only be trading one problem for another and never be completely free of glasses. Since the long term effects of this procedure aren't known, I feel it's better to wait until they are.

My husband did it last year and has had no trouble. He is diabetic as well. I am hoping to do it myself this year. Some places guarantee it, like the one we used. The first few days your eyes will continue improving. He now can see at distances fine, although he has a harder time reading, but he bought some OTC reading glasses for that at the dollar store. Most guarantees are voided if you become pregnant within a year of getting the surgery though.

i had mine done 2 years ago by eye-q. they did a great job i had really bad eyes almost legally blind and i have better than 20/20 now. i was scared because i dont like things like that but they gave me a mild sedative to relax me(you have to be awake) and it was a really short recovery. i would do it again. good luck
