LASIK surgery?
gemisic asked:
I would like to have LASIK surgery but I am scared to actually attempt it. Can someone share with me from experience what the outcome has been for them and recommend a good LASIK doctor in the NYC area?

I, personally, would not have Lasik surgery because they don’t know what the long term effects are. I do know a guy who had it and his vision is ruined plus it cost a fortune. Nothing is worth losing your sight over. I think it is best not to fool with what God has given us. Heidi

I got Lasik surgery and absolutely love it. Before I had it (this was 5 years ago), I was blind as a bat without my glasses. 450/20 and 550/20 PLUS astigmatisms in both eyes. I was legally blind without my glasses and couldn’t see 2 inches past my nose. 5 years after the surgery, I am 15/20 in one eye, 30/20 in the other eye, no astigmatism left, and when I use both eyes, I have 20/20 vision. PLUS my confidence in my looks has increased greatly.
There are risks, there are no doubts about that. As with ANY surgical procedure, there are risks. What you have to ask yourself, is do you believe that the risks are worth it?
It is an outpatient procedure, and they want you back in the next day. You have to keep your eyes closed for 24 hours after the procedure. I was basically blind, but when I opened my eyes for the first time after it was done, I could see perfectly. I cried. I had been in glasses since in 4th grade, and I cried with happiness.
If you do choose to do it, follow your doctors directions exactly, and realize, you may have to go in more than once. I will eventually have to go in to have the eye that is 30/20 taken care of. But, I will never regret having had the surgery done.
Best of luck to you in what ever you decide. Morga

I had laser eye surgery over a month ago now and I couldn’t be happier! I’m only 21 and the cost is definitely worth it, especially seeing as I was forking out just under $500.00 a year on contacts alone.
Definitely read up on it and find a good place. It’s important that you feel comfortable with your decision. The surgery is quick and I was outside playing catch with my boyfriend the same day of the surgery, so the recovery time is quick as well.
I went to Lasik MD, but I’m not sure if they have any locations in your area, as I’m in Canada.
Good luck! Webb
