Is it possible for me to get LASIK eye surgery?

eye surgery
V asked:

I’m 14 at the moment but my eyes are already failing me. The prescription for my left eye is -9.00 and for my right eye it is -9.25. I have astigmatism in both eyes and they’ve been getting worse yearly, will I be able to get LASIK when I’m old enough to?

That is something to ask your doctor. S P

Your power may be on the high end for LASIK by the time your eyes stop changing. Whether you are a candidate for LASIK will depend on how thick your cornea is along with some other tests. The chances are good that even if you are not a good candidate for LASIK, there will be another procedure that will reduce your need for glasses and contacts. David E

Usually the cut-off for LASIK candidates is about 21-22 years of age,so you’ve got some time before you’re even considered. Your eyes are still developing and will continue to until you are 18. T.J.
