I’m 14 and my parents are willing to let me get lasik - since I don’t want to wear glasses and struggle significantly with contacts.

You won’t find any Dr. who would do laser surgery at your age.
Your eyes are still changing because you are still growing. Even IF it was done now, you would need glasses again within a year probably.
The laser surgery is done only when the person has stopped growing, and the prescription has been stable for about 2 years, which usually doesn’t happen until the mid 20’s. Footprintz

Well, I wear contacts and am looking into it too. Apparently you need to wait until you’re at least 18 because you’re eyes are still developing (but i guess a trip to the optician would confirm that).
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that your vision will be perfect, and in a lot of cases people that have had lasik end up wearing reading glasses later in life. Cat

i would strongly recommend waiting until the age of 21.
i’ve seen many changes in rx in young patients until the stabilizing age of 21.
there are may causes of myopia/hyperopia and depending on your own case, it may take its own different course.
so to play it safe, wait till 21. Maestro En Siencia Oftalmica

LASIK destroyed my life.
I lost my job and studies, and now I can not read without my eyes hurt due to dry eye.
I will regret for life.

LASIK causes dry eye.
The dry eye is forever.
PD: LASIK was the worst decision of my life. LASIK promotes permanent conditions with no cure:
-Dry Eye Syndrome
-Double Vision
-Night Halos/Starbursts
-Depression
-Loss of Visual Acuity
-Accelerated Aging of the Eye
-Lack of Natural Tear Production
-Each Year Post LASIK Vision Gets Progressively Worse
