Laser eye surgery typically cost between $1,400 to $2,000 per eye. Most providers have financing plans available. Many providers offer free consultations to determine if you are a good candidate.
Most providers consider 18 years of age the minimum age for laser vision correction (LVC). LVC is a general term referring to both Lasik and PRK. It may be possible for you to have LVC at age 19, depending upon the amount of your refraction (glasses prescription), the stability of your refraction during the last several years, your general medical health, your family history, and other factors. I have treated many patients as young as 18 years old. However, I have also advised many patients in the 18 - 25 year old range that they need to wait a few more years to make sure their eyes are stable before proceeding.

I got it at 18, though usually you can't get it that young. It cost about $3k. I had a special procedure (PRK) done that involved my cornea being removed with what looked like an electric toothbrush and a few days of very bad pain afterwords. The Benefit is that 1) You can get it before you are old enough for LASIK and 2) You can have it done more than once should your eyesite get bad again. and 3) I don't know if they still offer this, but if my eyes EVER get bad again I can have it fixed for free as long as I get yearly checkups. That is good for the rest of my life. Also I had no side effects once the pain went away. It was worth every penny and pain. I went from 20/600 to 20/10. So now I have better vision than most people who have "perfect" eyesite.

Can you read without glasses?

Unfortunately the surgery will correct your vision now... and allow you to see far away.. but you are almost guaranteed reading glasses in a couple of decades.

Once you change the shape of your eye with this procedure, it can never be undone.

There are OTHER procedures that are starting to come into use,and THESE are reversible.

they are INTERNAL lenses. Yes, if your prescription changes, you would need the lenses replaced.. but it's reversible, where laser is not.

The ballpark price is 2,000 to 2,500, but you must be 21 because the eye keeps growing until then in some people. If you have the surgery too early, you May need it again after the growth.

Usually- eye docs shy away from performing corrective eye surgery until 24-ish. Ask around about that, first.
I had my eyes "burned in" and could not be happier. I went from 20/200+ to 20/10. It was VERY uncomfortable for a while, but this is normal and differs for everyone.
Well worth the discomfort to have better than perfect vision.
Good luck!

well i got mine at age 22 and it cost about $4,000 but bc mine was custom but that was a year ago and my eyes are going bad again. so i would say u should wait a while yet. especialy wait til u get a good job to pay for it bc im paying like $250 a month and i work at a gas station so it's pretty rough.... and the fact that my eyes are going bad again really sux....
so yeah definitely wait a few years when ur eyes are definately done changing
*i think it would've been like $3,000 something if it wasn't custom, and i live in MI if that helps

you have to be 18 to get lasic eye surgery, but you should speak with your eye doctor first.

and I'm not sure of the price. Something pretty expensive, but supposedly it's getting a lot cheaper.

it costs a couple grand.

you can get it at 19, but only if you qualify (the doctor will tell you if you do)
