If you wear soft contacts, you'll need to be out of them for a week or two before having a LASIK work-up; you'll need to be out of gas permeable contacts for several weeks or months since those types of lenses can distort your corneas. You also need to be tested to make sure that you meet certain other criteria such as tear production, corneal thickness, and pupil size, amoung other things.
