That is not true. You are not disqualified, it is waiverable. 2. For Army Aviation, you must first complete rotary wing training & based on needs of the Army, MAY get fixed wing transition. THIS IS RARE. Most apply for fixed wing transition later on in their flying career. 3. ROTC is a good way to go, but doesn't necessarily guarantee you will get flight training. If you want to become a helicopter pilot, a good way to do it is to go Warrant Officer. You can apply for WOFT (warrant officer flight training) as a civilian & if selected will go to Basic Training, Warrant Officer Candidate School & Flight Training.
